The Town Hall in Recanati has a museum dedicated to its famous son, Benjamin Gigli, considered to have been one of the finest tenors in the world.
There are costumes, audiovisual documents, awards, disks and much more, all material donated to the town by his family after his death.
Since 1959 “Eko”, the largest musical instruments factory in Europe, has been based in Recanati. From 1964 until the ‘70s, the Company was the largest exporter of European guitars to the US.
In the town hall you can also visit the Museum of the Guitar, named after the founder of “Eko”, Oliviero Pigini.
The tour continues with a visit to the theatre “Persiani”, in the centre of Recanati.
Lovers of lyric opera will certainly be interested in a trip to the magnificent, open air “Arena Sferisterio” in Macerata.
The “Sferisterio” is the home of the “Musicultura song festival”, a national event held annually in the summer.
Finally, we suggest a visit to the Museum of the Accordion in Castelfidardo, not far from Recanati.
For aficionados of the accordion and organ, Castelfidardo hosts the International Accordion Festival (every year).
